Co-founder – supply chain and web sales
Over 20 years in the logistics and fulfilment business, I’ve built up experience in international goods shipping, warehousing, transportation and brokerage of goods worldwide. Together with Ed Corkery, our company TBM Solution provides startups and established global brands with freight, fulfillment, e-commerce and distribution.
Because of my family connection to the Highfield Hospital Group nursing home and acute medical centre, I could feel the pressure they were under to get enough PPE to protect close to 400 employees and 500 patients.
Our business is very active with suppliers in China, so I’ve also experienced the roadblocks in the system due to overwhelming demand from all over the world. In the early days of the Coronavirus, we had been using our contacts in the Asian market to source PPE products to bring back to Ireland. It’s been a 24/7 operation, trying to manage the supply chain, secure much-needed equipment, and charter planes to bring the products here.
It’s been frustrating not having any insight into when supplies will arrive, and that feeling is only amplified when I think about the impact that PPE shortages are having on frontline healthcare workers and their patients.
That’s why we decided with StaySafe Masks, it was time to set up an efficient, lean manufacturing operation here in Ireland. We’ve partnered with UPS to manage domestic deliveries. With all production, packing and fulfilment all under our direct control, we can provide a seven-day turnaround instead of relying on an uncertain 14-week forecast. It’s better for the environment and better for our customers.
